I am watching Smallville right now. Clark Kent must spend a lot of money on clothes. I don't think an episode goes by where they are not torn asunder.

At least it is better than the movies and the comic books. I get that Superman is bullet proof, but that doesn't explain why is polyester outfit never gets a scratch on it when he walks in to a gun fight.
Mostly they are ripped up and burnt to a crisp. Sometimes they do show a bare chest. Unfortunately Lana does not get the same treatment.
