The Nashville Science Fiction Book Club will meet Wednesday Oct. 3, at the Panera Bread Co. in Hermitage at 7pm. We will be discussing The Gunslinger, by Stephen King. Meetings are free of charge although I am sure Panera would appreciate a purchase of some sort. Meetings are open to anyone, heck, my children will be there. We will have a sign identifying us at our table. Before and after book discussion we usually talk about all kinds of topics ranging from the internet to new scientific discoveries. Come join the fun.

that's awesome! did you read the book to your kids? heh.
That would take sooooo long, oh, and the marerial isn't quite appropriate.
oh. that's true. hehe. i forget about that. i'm afraid i'm not going to remember if things are appropriate for her and just give her things to read... heh. oh well. we'll see, i guess.
man! i want to go, but i haven't read any of the series since like.. #4.. and not in years... will i be expected to know anything? should i wait for the next one?
You would be suprised at how many people don't read the book at all. I think it is more of a gathering of people with interest in the Genre. Some months there is great participation, others not so much. I am unsure how the Gunslinger will go because some people are opposed to fantasy and Gunslinger could be considered in this vein.
so in short, you wouldn't be looked down upon for not reading the book recently, and we talk about a lot of other stuff as well.
ok i will probably come. as i'm suffering some allergy or whatever drama, a lot depends on if my eyes are open. but it would be -cool-. i do <3 teh sci fi, yo.
Hey if/when i get there, you have to pretend like you know me and/or like me :):)
i'm so shy. HHAHAHAH justkidding. No really. ;-)
like like you or just like you? ;)
hahah 'just like', thank you :).
Y ou guys have fun. I need a heads up so I can read the book ahead of time although a book club is a great way to find out if you want to read one also.
All this time we've shared a neighborhood (vox), how did I not know you were just down in Nashville? We're practically neighbors! 4.5 hours apart, but still! I just didn't realize you were so close. Cool. Oh, and to the topic at hand, I would love to find a casual book/genre group like this. T'would be fun.
I had to create my own. We have been meeting since '03, I think.
We usually pick the next months book at the meeting.
doubtless you are already installed at the book club table at panera, but i look and feel like ass, thank you allergies, thank you benedryl, so i'm going to pass and stay home. So, Budd, will you find out the next book and let me know? i'll read it and join you at the next one. Dancing Bear, will you come too?
