Homecoming

On Friday afternoon, I settled in for a nap only to be aroused by my wife.  She said the only words that could have gotten me out of the bed at the time:  Chopstick is back.

A little over a month ago as my daughter was going out the door to catch the bus, the cat slipped out the door.  This was only witnessed by a girl at the bus stop, and she only revealed it after several hours of waterboarding.  We stood out in the yard and called her, we scoured the neighborhood asking looking and asking kids.  With no sign of her anywhere I resigned myself to the fact that she was gone.  Either catnapped or hit by a car on the busy street we live on.  My family was sad.  I did not realize how much I missed her until, oneday, I took the ring of of the milk jug and went to through it on the floor for her to play with and she wasn't there.

Friday she came home.  She was thin, muscular, and filthy.  Her coat was no longer soft and her back nails were in pretty bad condition.  She was sans collar and looked to have a dandruff problem.  We spent the better part of the evening cleaning her up, got her a new collar with an I.D. tag, and fed her.  Three days later and her coat is starting to soften up, the dandruff is gone, and she is putting her weight back on.
