Tuesday TV Talk

Heroes - Heroes so rocked last night.  The writers stepped up big time and answered the question about Mr Bennett's alliances and who the Hatian is.  I was very satisfied with the episode and look forward to seeing what happens to Claire and Matt.  In the previews it showed simmone as alive.  What the heck is that about?

BSG - Another filler episode.  It is kind of hard to make a fuel shortage due to a strike seem urgent because of the cylons when it seems that all cylons have been written off the show.  Now it is lost in space with a fleet.  I will be suprised if they tie any part of this episode into any other episode; which is a shame.  With some forethought they could have been foreshadowing it in earlier episodes and could continue it on, but they didn't and they won't.  Look at the refugee storyline, gone.  I was thinking they should send them to work the mining ship.  Two stones, one bird.

Amazing Race -  All Stars?  are you kidding me?

Veronica Mars -  Didn't see that one coming.  Keith being sheriff again could become a little too deus ex machina.

awesome episode of heroes last night, just awesome. oh, and the preview with simone--i have to agree with my brother that she may have appeared in a dream to peter or isaac.

GAH! i hate being behind in my shows! i'm 3 shows behind in BSG! and 2 behind in heroes. the baby ruins everything! i wish she'd sleep all day so i could get caught up :P hehe

grrrace, is it too early to start acclimating the wee one on watching television? ;)

Gotta ignore the BSG comment -- although I admit "filler ep" was what I thought when I saw the previews. I really loved the interplay between Bill and Laura in the last one though.
Could that have been the best Heroes episode to date?? Maybe the Claire-on-the-autopsy table for an ending, or "Homecoming", but I thought this was the best-written episode from a character standpoint. There were so many great moments and I muttered "Morally grey..." to myself for a long time. Holy crap.

steve! that was my favorite line, "i'm comfortable with morally grey".

it's never too early... unfortunately, she doesn't find my shows nearly as interesting as the backyardigans. so after about 5 minutes she starts "talking" and then i can't hear any dialogue... or she is just spazzing out all over the place... sheesh....believe me... i have tried :P hehe... i'm going to turn her into a couch potato yet ;P hehe.

grrrace-The person that does the voice for Pablo (backyardigans) is the same person that does Ang (avatar). I say this so you can start weening him onto other things.
gamany-I thought about the dream thing too. who knows, we will have to wait and see.
Steve-Bill and Laura are great together, there is a line in last weeks that it is the high point of the episode. I think it is safe to say that last night's Heroes was the best to date.

I agree that it was the best Heroes to date. I can't remember the last time that I had high expectations for a movie or TV episode that managed to SURPASS those expectations.
No one mentioned Hiro's dad. Did anyone see that coming? Not me.
I’m with Gamany on the Simone scene being a dream or vision. I really don’t think NBC marketing would have shown that scene if she was actually alive. To me, that scene proves Simone is dead (Weird how my mind works, huh?).

Steve Betz said...

Yes -- I was surprised about Hiro's dad being in on it from the beginning! What a nice layer of depth.
I think Simone is dead -- unless of course, Peter can apply some healing power he's picked up to her -- but I think that's a cheap out. People need to fear for characters' lives or their's no drama. That's one of the things that made last night so good -- Matt, Bennett, Ted, Claire, Mom, even Lyle -- they were all up for grabs.
I also found it amusing that the structure of last night's "best.episode.ever" was rather LOST-ian. One central story (not several concurrently as they usually do) insterspersed with personal flashbacks. You know what is said about imitation and flattery.

the connection with the Nakamuras is very interesting. Had Hiro gone back (or stayed) with his Dad (Kaito N.) would he have actually inherited the company? Is Yamagato Industries a shell corporation like Primatech? Does Kaito Nakamura have an ability? Kaito remarked when he was in America that had he known Hiro would have taken the fairytales seriously, he never would have read them to him as a child... But he KNEW this stuff was real... we just don't know if Hiro was also adopted like Claire or perhaps Kaito is hiding more secrets about his own abilities.???!

You know how all normal people are teamed with a hero? maybe Nakamurasan is the partner of creepy blonde guy. Seeing as how Hiro has powers and we have seen that they are genetic to some degree, Nakamurasan should have an ability. He does have "real power" after all.

ITA about Galactica. Technically it was strong - good writing, excellent cinematography - but I felt like I was watching a really great episode of a show I don't watch. :-/ Where is the cohesion from one episode to the next? Where were Apollo and Starbuck and Cylons? And is Adama on drugs? That's the only thing I can think of to explain his all-over-the-place behavior. Grrr...
