The Last Mimzy

This movie was fun for my family and myself. We sat down and had a great time. This movie succeeds in spurring children's imaginations. My 6 year old kept telling me that she could hear a Mimzy talking to her and she kept trying to communicate with me telepathicly. I have not read the short story that this movie was based upon, but I want to. More importantly, my daughter wants me to read it to her.

The movie does have a very E.T. like formula. Child finds alien/future toy, Gov't gets involved, alien/future toy is dying and must be sent home, Children fly, Children escape the gov't and get the alien/future toy back in the nick of time. Here is the thing. I loved E.T. when I was a kid, but it didn't age well. My 6 y/o has watched it and liked it okay, but we both like this movie so much better.

I really liked the special features.  They talk about worm holes and the problems of using them to time travel and stuff like that.  The special features were primarily for adults as my daughter did not seem interested in the least.  Also some of the deleted scenes have a warning about subject matter.

the movie was okay up until the very end... then i just got annoyed because the dialogue was just so crappy. like, the gov't is just gonna let them go and be like, "oh, is there anything we can help you with? oh, okay, well, then bye!" pfffft.

That was kinda forced, but he wasn't really a government stooge. He really didn't know what he was doing.

Thanks for the review...I might go watch this with my nephews if they haven't seen it yet, as it sounds right up their (and my) alley....

I have never heard of it but I know you enjoy enlightening your little girl. I think anything is great when mom's and dad's do them with their kids. I remember my mom and dad took me to see a movie all by myself and I never forgot it.

You can't just say that without telling me what the movie is.

No laughing. The Sound of Music. It was just that they took me more than the movie. I think my mom may have picked that one because my dad was a crusty Navy guy, lol.

like grrrace, I had the same complaints about the movie, but overall I really enjoyed it.
Basically a good family movie and I loved the music. My kids will not understand the flaws of the movie until they are about my age...by then... big deal. heh heh
The kids were awesome in that movie.
