Red in the Face

So a couple of weeks ago, the wife and I checked out a new chain restaurant called Red Robin.  They do gourmet burgers and it was really good.  I ordered their chocolate shake because nothing goes better with a burger than a chocolate shake.  The wife got the ulimate margarita.  Now neither of us drink, but my wife used to back when she was living in Korea.  She asked the waitress how much alcohol was in it and if it was going to get her drunk.  The waitress assured her that it wasn't that bad.

About halfway through the meal, my wife's face and neck turn bright red.  This embarasses her and just adds to the problem.  The waitress comes over and aplogizes and asks if she is allergic to alcohol.  She then gives us a giant to go cup full of water.

After we leave we stop into the Old Navy and my wife looks at some clothes for the kids.  She then wants me to take them up to the register to pay for them.  When I ask why, she tells me that she is embarrassed about her face being red.  I tell her that no one will know.  We live in TN it is 90 degrees outside and sun is shining.  It was so funny.  Her head and neck were burning up.

I think my wife has given up drinking for good.

Lea-I had to buy shoes still.
grace-This is the first time I have seen her do it.
Angela-She is the one that wanted it. She should have gotten a shake. Then she would have just ended up fat, like me.

Stinking alcohol dehydrogenase -- have her take B-vitamins before and after.

b vitamins? i have never heard of that before. i must try... wait. which b vitamins????

Any of the B-complex or multi-vitamin that contain niacin should help. In fact, when I have a little too much to drink myself, I try to counter with a BIG glass of water and a multi-vitamin.

Steve- Are there adverse effects on the liver if the alcohol isn't metabolized. It seems to me that this would be very bad for you.

My mom gets red cheeks and ears when she drinks.
I've just recently tried Red Robin. The burger with a fried egg on it is amazing!
